A hardy tree, related to the lilly pilly, its fruit is edible and it is very attractive. It bears fruit between 2 - 4 years. Although its main fuiting season is summer smaller harvests can occur throughout the year. The skin is very thin, the flesh is juicy and sweet. Frost, salt and drought tolerant but young plants need frost covers below -2°C, while well-established plants can survive -5°C. Full sun is best for greatest fruit production. Very adaptable to different soil types: Sand, sandy loam, clay, and loose limestone.

Comments Warnings : The fruit is high in Vitamin C. In Brazil the leaf is made into an infusion for medicinal purposes. They also contain citronella, geranyl acetate, geraniol, cineole, terpinene, sesquiterpenes and polyterpenes and are distilled for their essential oil.
