Comments Warnings : A majestic pine tree that was around 180 million years ago. It has been an important food source since this time. It seeds have been traded as a currency in some traditions. The nuts (seeds) can be eaten raw when fresh, but it is a lot easier to boil the seed pods to extract the nut. The nuts have been roasted, sliced or pureed and used in desserts and savory dishes and spreads. The nuts have also been milled to a flour and then used in various doughs.
