Young Berry
Young Berry

  • Price: $15.00

Dig plenty of organic matter, animal manure or commercial fertiliser into the soil before planting. It will grow best against a wall or fence or trellis. Sprinkle with a general fertiliser each spring. Cut off suckers that emerge between plants. Apply mulch in spring to conserve moisture in summer, and increase fruit yield. Cut old stems once plant has fruited. Leave about 5 stems on each plant and keep tied whilst growing through summer. Plant in full sun or part shade, protect from winds. It will go dormant in winter.

Comments Warnings : The Young berry has very sweet juicy fruit. When ripe the fruit is black-purple in colour. The fruit is eaten raw and made into jams, jellies, syrups, wines and liquors. The vines are also thornless making it easy to harvest the fruit. It contains Vitamins A, B1, C, calcium and many other minerals and vitamins.
