Mulberry - White

  • Price: $15.00

Mulberries are swift-growing when young, but soon become slow-growing and rarely exceed 10-15 m (33-49 ft) tall. The fruits of the white-fruited cultivar are white when ripe; the fruit in this cultivar is also sweet but has a very mild flavor compared with the darker variety. Plant white mulberries in a site that receives full sun to partial shade, though it will leaf out and set fruit best in full sun. The tree isn't picky about the type of soil, growing well in everything from rich to poor soils, and in sandy, clay or even rocky soils. Soil acidity can range from acidic to alkaline. White mulberry is somewhat drought-tolerant but prefers evenly moist, well-drained soil. It can also tolerate brief periods of wet soil. Its high salt tolerance makes white mulberry a good choice for coastal areas.
